How come fun places like this aren't made anymore?

  1. Places like this were built without a permit, they just did it. There isn't a zoning board in this country that would approve anything of this sort because 1. The sheer volume of douchebaggery and complaints that would surely follow from all the perpetually offended plus every permit applicant that was previously denied anything, ever, and 2. Zoning boards generally just about cum in their pants when they get to deny stuff, especially stuff like this. They fucking love it! It's what allows them to continue with their miserable little lives.

    1. That's not how Zoning boards work. Zoning pertains to the use of the land (i.e is a school, hospital, house, business or something other going to be built on a piece of land.) and not what is constructed on the land. However, building departments do pertain to what is built and how it is built on a property.

Buildings like this are no longer made because they take time, planning and money. This isn't something that's slapped up overnight. Most franchises don't want to take the time or money to invest in something like this because it might be closed tomorrow.

If no one has noticed most construction today, like everything else in our throw away society, is built as cheaply as possible. It's all disposable. That's why buildings like this aren't built anymore.

    2. Depending on the location, the zoning board may have purview, but there are always planning commissions as well that assure compliance and that process can be complicated.

  5. @Anon 6:11AM..Agreed! The start of anything "regulated" is the only known Perpetual Motion Machine and always Government operated. Zoning, Building, Taxes/"Fees"...it's a never-ending cycle of graft and corruption...all under the guise of "Health & Safety" (Sars-Cov-2 anyone?). Time For A Reset...get these buggering dingus' out of our lives...because all they do is take away fun and freedoms from We The People...and they live for it, like a bad HOA ninny.

    1. I tell my customers unless they are right across the street from city hall DO NOT go in there and ask for a sign permit. We'll put up something pretty and forget about it.

  7. Because all the fun is slowly being sucked out of the world.

  8. Everyone knows WHY we can't have nice things, because it's the demographics, racist, non-inclusive, unhealthy or a city council member didn't get paid off.

  9. It also takes craftsmanship to build something like that. Sadly lacking a this modern day.

    1. Yep, they just built one within the last 5 years about 5 miles from my house. It’s not the only one in the area, just the closest.

  12. Corporate mentality has a lot to do with it to. It homogenizes everything. McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, Culvers, Chick-Fil-A...If you look at them from the front and you go in, you enter on the left side. Once inside the order counter is to the right, dining to the left. At the extreme end of the counter is the drive-through pick-up. They're all the same. God bless the people who keep the unique places going.
