Fordite, or precious "metal"

  1. Obliquely sanded paint chips from the spray booth of the Ford auto assembly plant. Those are representations of the colors used over the years.

    1. We get the same thing off the wall in our gelcoat booth at the boat plant.

  3. Perhaps few if any examples now remain, but 40-years or so ago during renovation work in office buildings, I recall layered lead-based paint chips. Paint was laid on thick, with lead content forming distinct separation of layers.
