I'll bet "dollars to doughnuts" that a telephoto lens was used as a common trick to make it appear that both planes were much closer than they actually were.
I think that's a '70, the '69 didn't have the fake scoop on the side. I hope this oversize wheel fad dies soon, it just looks wrong.
