And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I have one in my pocket and use the pliers at least twice a week usually, been carrying one since 1988 or so... no hat & no cattle. I like my original one, it's smaller than the new ones.
Retired institutional locksmith for a large teaching hospital here...I carried the standard Wave and used it constantly. Very handy, quality tool. It now resides in my den where it still gets used a lot. So, all hat and no cattle here, too.
The older Waves used to be easy to find in pawn shops for a quarter of their factory price with usually two or three of their tools worn. They are a handy tool, but the bits aren't often used unless you work in a job requiring constant use of them. I'd pass on the light fabric sheath - the tool hinges wear holes in the material fairly quickly when carried daily. Leather will last longer. If you need about the same tool in a smaller size and save a bit of money. the Rebar might be an alternative.
ghostsniper, huh? More like ghostsnob…. You were good until you added a completely useless jab at people. And yes, I carry one to this day after having one with me almost every day of my military career in truly sexy places. That makes me Just consider me all hat, all cattle, all the time. Every real man should own and carry one.
I have several of these "handy tools" that sit waiting for me to use them. I never seem able to need them when my entire workshop is full of regular tools.
John, everyone has an opinion and that's how it should be, but I know for a FACT that a little pocket tool can, will and has fixed a lot of things that need fixing....right then and there.
I just now ordered 10 of the Leatherman WAVE multi-tools.
In past years, I've frequently shared many of the Leatherman WINGMAN multi-tools as gifts to kith and kin.
As an ardent advocate of unalienable rights of the physically handicapped to be able to protect themselves, up until now, I personally set the example by habitually wearing the Leatherman WINGMAN multi-tool as a constant companion to my miniature LED flashlight, my full-sized lock-blade clip-on knife, my Sig Sauer P365 9mm pistol, spare magazine, small pocket mirror, and I-Phone.
Being an elderly disabled war veteran using a wheelchair, I now also carry a full-sized sword cane from Cold Steel.
Unfortunately, whenever in a VA medical facility, like every other honorable disabled war veteran, I too, must be completely disarmed and a helpless potential victim.
But, I know the day is coming when because of the VA policy of keeping patients disarmed, there will be a mass casualty attack at a VA medical facility, just as there have been at other public buildings where weapons are not permitted.
My grandmother used to say: "Be careful what you say because it may come true."
Predicting a mass casualty attack on a VA facility will most likely never happen... Why? Because most shit-for-brains terrorists want to inflict the maximum of destruction with little or no blowback. I would imagine that staging an attack on a VA facility would garner tables, chairs and the like flying into the air directed toward the attacker(s).
Keep one in the car; one in the briefcase. No, not around the house- there, I've got a shop full of tools. Been carrying one since Fallujah in 2004, where I ruined two in the space of 3 months on deployment with the MEU (and when sent back to the maker, got -literally- two dozen back). As somebody said, Uncle Sam's Misguided Children can break anything. Usually within the first hour of use. To their credit, these lasted a bit longer. Not much longer.... funny, the one I've had since then seems pretty indestructible.
I listened to an hour long interview of Mr. Leatherman. Interesting. However my advice to both him and the Swiss Army knife is stop putting too much shit in it and make it lighter and more useful.
Not for me.
ReplyDeleteRarely am I more then 2 minutes away from my entire workshop of tools.
People that carry those things are mostly showboats, all hat no cattle.

ReplyDeleteMust be nice have things only break when you're around your shop.
DeleteActually, the stuff that I can fix are small and portable. The big shit that breaks, I have a fully qualified repairman fix it.
DeleteAnd by the by, IMHO a little pocket tool is not going to fix much of anything.

Jack of all trades, master of none.

ReplyDeleteThe best multi-purpose tool I've ever owned! Five stars from me!
ReplyDeleteI've carried the Leatherman Skeletool since they were introduced. Handy little tool that's served me well.
ReplyDeleteI got one, not as good as their other multi-tools...screw driver bits a terrible...
