And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The Progenitor of the Hemingway Daiquiri - Mrs CW's favorite adult beverage.
Cuban style rum, like Bacardi, is horrible, raw, rough, stuff. The only way to drink it is with lots of sugary juices Daquiri, rum punch, pina colada or with Coca-Cola. Definitely not a sipping rum.
For a sipping rum try Don Q or, if you can find it Ron de Barilito (2 stars great, 3 star even better) Do not waste it in a Daquiri. Drink it neat from a highball glass or with rocks, splash of water and/or twist of lime.
Granados, Palo Viejo or the other Puerto Rums ditto. Bacardi is technically a Puerto Rican Rum, distilled here, but made to the original, harsh, cuban recipe.
Here's an article on the origins of the Hemingway Daiquiri with recipe
