The natural result of racing in that weather and those conditions

  1. How do riders keep their face shields clear enough to evaluate the road so they can react to it ?

    1. You don't. Buck it up time, a variety of actions help, first just do the best you can, and try not to breath thru your nose so your visor stays relatively fog free. Open your visor a crack helps, tilting your helmet in various angles helps. Mostly your traveling a lot slower in corners, go like hell on the straights, so you have more time to see the track. Smooth is fast especially in the wet. Good rain slicks give you incredible traction, up to a point, they are like bubblegum sticky, one lap in the dry destroys them, even though standing water more than a quarter inch at speed no tires work, soon as you get in the throttle the front end lifts and your pulling like a gorilla on the bars to keep from sliding out. I love rain racing, its a ton of fun, have the upper body strength to muscle the bike around, some guys just wont race in it though. You slide every where no matter what, its about being smooth more than anything really.

    1. looks like he is running the throttle to keep the engine running, probably no starter so to save weight, and hp eliminating the sprag clutch, small battery, all so when he stops sliding he can get right back in the race.

    2. ps, why the bike is oscillating back and forth, the engine and rear wheel are basically gyros, when he revs or lets off the throttle the gyros are fighting each-other. Same cause of a high-side crash, front wheel gets out of line, sudden rpm change, and the 3 gyros want to go in different directions. It can be the most violent thing you can experience, happens faster than you can react, sometimes it flicks you like a booger especially if the bike jacks straight up. FLY! Highly dangerous. Cause of more injuries than anything else.

    3. Gyros. A most interesting comment! Never thought of that, but it makes sense.

  3. It's all fun and games when you're on the low side behind the bike
