  2. Must be the new Panamax locks. I don't see the tracks for the mule engines.

  3. I don't know about so-called "climate change" but Panama and most of Central and South America is going through a period of drought. The Canal was in trouble for quite a while prior. They needed to dam up a tributary river to provide water to the locks and they did not do it. They "solution" is for ships to unload on one side of the country, then railroad trains to pick up freight, transport it to the other side and reload it onto ships.

    Now, I am told that Nicaragua is planning to build a canal.
