And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I was stationed at CGAS Barbers Point Hawaii, one night the normal logistics flight came back from the Loran station o Kure atoll, that was a one year (unaccompanied) duty station. A guy got off the C-130 with his bike, he asked me for directions to the airport... he'd spent his year on Kure riding his bike on circles on the island, he now had 60 days off and was going to ride his bike to New York.
I've thought about getting on a bike and just going... never did it.
