The survey found that every single actual man on the planet would immediately log out of Slack, Trello, Zoom, and countless other productivity and connectivity apps, pack their things, and join the dangerous and deadly voyage without a second thought.
Of course. Every WORKING man would join.
ReplyDeleteBut if they stop WORKING, who is going to pay for the NON-WORKING 'men'?
Even at my age I would be hard pressed to decline such a glorious invitation!
ReplyDeleteIn the words of Tennyson's Ulysses:
DeleteCome, my friends,
'T is not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
Sorry not me. But if you want to go somewhere warm I'm with you.
ReplyDeleteNope, not going.
ReplyDeleteYou know I'd go. My seabag is packed, so it wouldn't take much.
ReplyDeleteI would be packed & ready to go.
ReplyDeleteWe want to be the doers of deeds, not chores.

hell yea i would go. i'm old but still usefull. i can cook and treat the sick and injured. i have been longing for one last quest. if i didn't survive i would die happy.
ReplyDeleteto die in your sleep, in a bed, is a sad way for a man to leave this world. ya gotta go out with a reason to live.
I'm the kind of guy who would go anywhere just to see it. That works out to mostly dive bars. But. You get the idea.
ReplyDeleteNope, wouldn't go. Anyone calling me "lad" has just proven himself nuttier than a Collin Street Bakery fruitcake.
ReplyDeleteThere's a few folks I'd like to see go. . .
ReplyDeleteMake it an island in the South Pacific and I'm in.
ReplyDeleteI did it at the age of 25, spent 18 years sailing the seas from the Artic Circle to below the Equator! At 67 years old I would do it again!
ReplyDeleteI retired last year and immediately took on the Appalachian Trail. God blessed me with health and the ability to walk over 2000 miles. It really was an awesome adventure!
ReplyDeleteUmm. Traverse Antarctica. By ship.
ReplyDeleteNot, "Circumnavigate".
"All right.", As Ron White would say.
Hmm ... Long journey. All strong, manly, virile men. I'd probably be the only woman. Need a cook?
ReplyDeleteThe Babylon Bee. Been a whole long time since I've seen reference to that sucker.
ReplyDeleteEx#2 was from North Babylon.
