Dramatic, but a waste of fuel

  1. This waste of fuel bothers you, but you advocate cooking on cast iron...

    That's, ironic.

    1. Just curious - did you factor in the total energy and resource expenditure & cost of multiple cheapies that end up in landfills or recycle bins?

    3. Curious, just because a pan is something other than cast iron doesn't mean it's a "cheapie", there are plenty of excellent quality, high durability, high efficiency pieces of cookware out there that clean up in a flash.

Did you factor in the time spent properly "seasoning" after every use?

If you believe everyone should be like you and use cast iron instead of some other option that they are free to choose, I've got news for you, you're a leftist.

  7. Nothing new here. In the '80s one of my father's buddies replicated the chopped Merc he had in the '50s. He used an electric fuel pump and some piping to squirt fuel into each tailpipe, Model T ignition coil boxes connected to a spark plug in each tailpipe and a switch on the dashboard to turn the flames on.

  8. Useful for dealing with traffic-blocking protestors, though one does have to back up to them.

  9. There's something about making cornbread in your Grandma's skillet that's hard to put a price on.

  10. I don't know where Mathew got the idea that you have to season it after every use.
I can't remember the last time I had to season the one my mom got from my grandmother.
BTW- what's the scare quotes for?

    1. Another comment made from ignorance. Once good cast iron is seasoned
      it's good for a
long time unless it's allowed to rust from missuse. Newer cast
iron which is sanded is still porous and might require more often cleaning and reseasoning.
