Rambler. They should bring back the brand. I wonder who owns the rights to it today?

  1. I had a '62 Rambler American, and although I was ridiculed by my friends, I was the only one with front seats in a car that laid out flat (no console either). It was great for 'parking'.

    1. In HS a friend's aunt had one. I think we had about 12 kids packed in it one time.

  2. My first car was a 1962 Rambler Classic with factory a/c. And the front seats folded down to make a bed. That was a feature I never made use of.

  3. My dad had one back in the early 60s and kept it til I was 10 years old in 1970. I don't recall what year it was, but I do remember he had a necker's nob on the steering wheel.

  5. Rambler became AMC.
    AMC partnered with Renault.
    Chrysler bought them.
    Chrysler merged with Mercedes.
Now Chrysler is merged with Fiat.

So who knows who owns the Rambler brand.

    1. I assume Fiat owns the brand if the trademark was kept current.

    2. Stellantis is the name of the company that owns Chrysler, Fiat, Dodge, Ram, Pugeot, Citroen, Alfa-Romeo, Jeep, Vauxhall, Opel, Lancia, Arbarth, DS and Maserati.
They would own all the AMC brands.

  6. My first car was also a Rambler, 63 Classic 770, straight six and three on the tree. The oddest thing about that car was the pullout handle labeled "Overdrive". When utilized it put the transmission in a freewheeling mode, so that there was no engine braking. I'm not sure if that was the intent or if my transmission was faulty. Either way the car served me well all the way through college .
