  1. The B-58 Hustler. They have one at the SAC museum outside of Omaha, NE. Great plane and damned fine museum.

Oh how we spend money on aircraft. The CH-46 Helicopter is wasted because money grubbers wanted the 22. The biggest piece of shit known to man. But why should I complain, it’s only taxpayer money and the Marines and Navy knew the true value of the 46. Well, shall we kiss our ass goodbye because of the governments poor decisions. FJB and Obama.

  3. The Hustler did a lot of things, none of them very well. Wikipedia says it was succeeded by the "smaller" FB-111. I've been up close to the FB-111, and it is definitely NOT small.

  4. The Continental Mark II cost 10 grand and Lincoln lost money on every one it sold.

    1. $10,000 in 1956 is $112,000 in 2023, and we're edging up on that amount for a pickup truck.
A pickup truck more luxurious than the '56 Lincoln, but still...

  5. The B-58 was the best looking airplane ever made. It was horribly dangerous man-killing piece of crap with no military value ever, but damn, it was gorgeous.

    1. And FAST! My dad built them and F-102's, F--106's in San Diego. I ended up working on F-102's in Iceland, '72-'73.

  6. I've been enjoying the fifties TV show "Steve Canyon" on Amazon Prime. Old time planes and old time military values.

  7. Col John Deutschendorf (John Denver's Father) did some amazing things in the Hustler....I remember my Dad did some work at Eglin AFB in the mid 50's, and an Air force photographer had taken an aerial view of the base....he gave my Dad a photo, which I still have....if you looked real close you could see a B58 on one of the refuelling pads, a rarity at the time since it was still top secret...
