And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Thompson Springs, just east of Greenriver, Ut. on I-70. Go through town heading north to find the petroglyphs. If you continue following the road north up the creek, and into the Book Cliffs there are some great 4WD trails and roads to explore. The main road is fenced off at the boundary of the Ute Indian Reservation. A good hunting spot for big muleys, and elk. Some of my old stomping grounds from latte 60s, and early 70s. That's a pretty rare find C.W., Thanks for tickling my memory.
Remember the big ol' wood framed hotel at Sego? Yeah, it's a pile of kindling, now. Also, the cemetery filled with Italians is still there and somebody is doin a fine jobs of maintaining it.
One of the rundown restaurants in town looks like they up and closed one night and just never went back. Set tables, decorations on the walls, menus in the rack at the register. All sheltered by a building busy returning to the earth. No idea when they folded up the tent but it had to be before 1998 when I was working at Lake Powell and making the run to Colorado a couple times a month. (cheaper groceries and I was young and knew where to get 6.0 beer AND weed just across the Ut/Co line. :)
That's a ghost town, alright. Remnants of the original part of town. Pretty cool.
