And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

A beer bottle discovered at Challenger Deep, the deepest point on Earth at -35,000ft
35K eh???? "I was really Drunk at the time......" Listen close to the words from the album ."Dark side of the moon" ... if I have to tell you who did it .... go play in the Traffic..... skybill
Oh, no. Now I'm going to spend the day trying to calculate how long it would take a bottle to fall 35,000 feet through water of varying temperature and density. Are there currents? How far did it drift sideways?
Probably fell or was thrown off a boat passing by.
I'm all for exploration. Space, sea or land exploration is a good thing. It drives technology and it presents a challenge to humans, which we need to grow. However, people are pigs. Can't we go anywhere without totally trashing the place? We've put trash on the bottom of the ocean, on the moon, on Mars, in near space, in deep space and anywhere in between. Don't get me wrong... I'm not a tree hugger by any means, but don't ruin it for everyone else. Pick up your damn trash!
In 1975, the boat I was on passed over the Challenger deep, and I was able to take a sounding on it. It took nearly 16 seconds for the echo to return. (Note that the speed of sound in seawater is much faster than air - approx. 4800 fps.)
Another shark party getting out of hand.

So what brand was it?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a Heineken to me. Some probably tossed it cause it was skunky.
DeleteThe silver foil around the neck screams St Pauli Girl, unless that is just a reflection.
DeleteToo bad it's not the bottle from I Dream of Jeanie.
ReplyDeleteNice house for some small creature, thought Heineken right away too
ReplyDeleteAnd if you look a ways over to the right, you'll see my gun collection that I lost.
ReplyDeleteI can just see some arm braces. Several of them. How unfortunate.

Or at what depth it would have imploded if it was still capped.
DeleteYou're welcome.
You're off to a bad start. It didn't fall it sank.
DeleteDang, I been lookin' for that!

ReplyDeleteHey, one man's trash is an archeologists treasure!

I would say that that is a long way to go just for the 5 cent deposit.
ReplyDeleteCan’t go anyplace without human waste. Walk through desert and every time I think I’m on a new trail I see a corona bottle

ReplyDeleteHells bells, at that depth. I figured the only thing you'd find, would be lawyers and politicians...
ReplyDeleteNot enough of them down there by any count.
