I like the Wi/Fi feature

  1. You have to be careful picking these. I've discovered that some of them have an extremely narrow field of view on the photos. Some of them deceptively advertise big angles of capture, 120° or more, and then you read carefully and discover that this refers only to the motion sensors, not the camera ! Buyer beware. Plus, some of the newer ones only require 4x AA batteries, instead of 8. My chief complaint, having bought a lot of these, is that often the camera lens quality is so poor that even a big picture file returns with a fuzzy picture. I've concluded that you really have to shop by reading the 'verified purchase' reviews of actual experiences.

  2. We have a solar charging WiFi webcam, love it for downloading to the phone then deleting from the camera. Still includes batteries for backup but the top mounted panel works great. And 'yes' to Aggie above, go for the 4-5 star reviewed ones.

    1. Great comment - if you have a link or a product name I would appreciate it, and I'm sure others would, too.

    2. There are comparable units on Amazon, this is the one we have (micro SD card): https://www.amazon.com/Lamgool-Bluetooth-120°Wide-Angle-Waterproof-Monitoring/dp/B0B1CWCF9H/ref=sr_1_2?crid=168WQZ0ANE6YD&keywords=Lamgool%2Bwifi%2Bsolar%2Bgame%2Bcam&qid=1674676721&sprefix=lamgool%2Bwifi%2Bsolar%2Bgame%2Bcam%2Caps%2C323&sr=8-2&th=1

    3. I have 2 with the solar chargers. That's the only way to go, no batteries required. I download the vids and piks directly to my PC thru the wifi. With the motion detector it sort of acts like a security cam as well. They are dropping in price. I paid $129 each 2 years ago. You have to deeply scutinize and investigate everything you purchase these days, expecially on amazon.

  3. Aggie: One reason I've found for the poor quality of their stills is that they don't have a 20Mb or whatever sensor. They get those big files by expanding the output from their - typically - 2Mb or 5Mb sensor! Marketing strikes again!
Our Toguard 85 camera uses 8x AAs but eats them for breakfast. Thankfully it has a power input socket and we run it on mains power. It also has wifi but I haven't got round to trying it yet.

  4. TACTACAM REVEAL (branded as Reveal now) or SPYPOINT FLEX / MICRO models are the brands many prefer - with a solar panel addition the batteries are no longer a problem. Pay attention to the cell providers & SD card recommendations.
