USAF Douglas C-124C Globemaster II. Dunno why I think this but that seems like it would be a fun plane to fly.

I bet you remember Sid Caesar, Martha Rae, Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Dave Brubeck, even Eisenhower, maybe Truman, and the Friday Night Fights.

  5. And look at all the fun you'd have trying to keep those 4360s fed! Get a load fof the oil stains on the wings!

  6. Buddy of mine was a loadmaster on C-133's and during one of their stand downs due to yet another unexplainable disappearance over the ocean, got sent over to a C-124 squadron to stay busy. He didn't have much good to say about them. He said that the brakes were loud, screaming contraptions and the joke was that the noise was the flight engineer screeching to be let out of that thing. Also they were very slow compared to the C-133's, or at least those C-133's that survived. The Air Farce lost 10% of the C-133 inventory due to various inconveniences including the aforementioned unexplained disappearances. He was supposed to be on one that crashed on take-off from Goose Bay killing the entire aircrew, but got pulled from the trip the day before. The pilot's brother was also a C-133 driver and was also at Goose that day and watched it go down. Think on that one think.

  7. It would make a great live-aboard even if it's not a seaplane.

  8. C-133s weren't flown to Vietnam, as ground fire could bring one down.
