And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I guess the downside would be when you re-start the engine, if the filter has to re-fill before the oil can reach the journal bearings and other moving parts. Maybe it's not significant; my oil filters have always been port-side-up, and on oil changes I always fill the new one with fresh oil before installing it.
I don't think it's significant. Subarus have had inverted oil filters on top of the engine for years...that and a Fumoto drain valve make oil changes a snap. The filters also have an internal anti drain back valve.
A fantastic rural workhorse compared to the highly expensive, ego-boosting, WiFi equipped, cruising toys that clog the streets in thousands of urban neighborhoods today. And it's way more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.
Friend of mine has one a little later than that I think. Went in the grocery store for beer,10min maybe, someone stole the tailgate. Those things don't grow on trees ya know.
My Dad said his early 50's stud could smell a hill coming a half a mile away and started slowing down.....that was empty....with a little bit of a load that went out to a mile away....
I;m thinking every Chev v8 I've ever had and the dist. was back there too! Never had a problem and even loved it more when the newer point sets were introduced.........
Looks like that heater wouldn't have any problem running you out of the cab on a cold winter's day. I don't recall ever seeing a two-tone Steadybreaker before. Seems like all the ones I ever saw were a solid color.
You can actually get to all sparkplugs without using multiple universals!
ReplyDeleteThings could get messy changing that oil filter.
The oil filter drained back into the engine in that position, when engine off.

DeleteWhy didn't I think of that? lol

ReplyDeleteMy Uncle Sidney in West Paducah, Kentucky (deceased) wouldn't have anything but Studebakers.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing this one won't be disabled by an EMP detonation.
Nope. It'll still run fine.
DeleteThat dash wiring is hilarious. I can remember working on cars like that. You don't even need a schematic - you can just follow each wire....
DeleteThat distibutor is in a really bad place.

Little slider door for inserting the allen wrench to adjust the dwell.
DeleteThe backs of my legs still ache.
