This camera was set to capture a Falcon 9 rocket launch. it melted due to the heat from the launch The amazing part is, it was almost half a kilometer from the launch point.

  1. It was a launch from Vandenberg AFB. The launch sparked a brush fire that melted the camera.

  2. Teach 'em for using metric. Probably would have been okay at half mile.

    1. Nope, 1km = 0.62 miles, so half a mile away is closer.

    2. Um the head line reads "almost a half a kilometer". 1/2 kilometer is 500 meters, 500 meters is .31 miles or only 1,640 feet.

    3. Half a mile is 800 meters. A kilometer is 1000 meters.

    4. A half mile is 2640 feet. A half Kilometer is 1640 feet Half mile is further away.
