And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That's the 1959 Pontiac Bonneville. I had the Star Chief. Only real difference visually on the outside was instead of the four rectangles along the rear fender, there were four stars. The car is 18 feet 4 inches long, and my garage had about 18 inches to spare when it was inside. Mine was whote like this one, but had what was called the Vista View roof. There were no rear pillars; it was wrap around windshield all the way around. Ha d a gorgeous dash with lots of chrome, too. It was a great car!
My uncle's was a wagon. We used to take it phesant hunting and I seem to remember the thing hauling about a dozen guys. Well, maybe not a dozen, but there was always at least eight of us, our gear and a dog or two, and I remember being comfortable.
We had a '59 Catalina.....white with a Firethorn red interior and roof with vista view....had a dealer add on A/C unit that got so cold it would throw out ice chunks...LOL....standard 389 single carb....
It's a two door and it looks nearly as long as that limo behind it!

ReplyDeleteSo, about as much as a modern but smaller car. I San see your concern (snark).
ReplyDeleteTailfins are always a welcome sight. At almost eighteen and a half feet it was huge. I wonder if it has the tri power carbs on the 388.
ReplyDeleteMany a family was started or enlarged in cars like that.
DeleteThis may very well have them. Mine did not. Regular 389 with just one carburetor.
DeleteMine was exactly like that one, but no whitetails. 389 tri-power.
