Chimney Rock, I believe...

    1. There are many places known as Chimney Rock. Those are the known ones. What I mean is I know of two places that are only locally known by that name. One doesn't even slightly resemble a chimney. That's because the very large rock shadowed over a famous backwoods still.

  3. There may be -A- chimney rock in NC, but the one pictured above is, I believe, the one in Nebraska. It was starting off point for wagon trains headed further West.

    Family visited the one in NE back in 2010 as port of the trip from the Black Hills down the Cabela's Mother ship and merging with I-80.

  4. Chimney Rock was a marker on the Oregon Trail not the starting point. Wagon trains started further east in towns like St. Joe, Missouri.

  5. Chimney Rock is NW of Bridgeport, NE a few miles just off US 26. Decent paved road into a visitor center with good access.

  7. SantaCaliGon Days. A festival in Independence Missouri. Its where the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon trails started
