A stone ‘battle axe’ from Clonmore, Co. Carlow. It dates from c. 1900-1700 BC

  1. According to Amber Sofia Roy, probably the most learned data source on Scottish, Irish, English battle axes, it is outdated to consider the implements were merely ornamental. Also, the origin is widely debated.
