A door filled with concrete used as a shield against the world's most powerful continuous fusion neutron source, 1979. A special bearing in the hinge allowed one person to open or close the door.

  2. Even with frictionless bearings, what I'm guessing at 12 yards of 'crete is a good 24 tons.
Superman or the Hulk could probably open that door by themselves, but I really doubt that chick could.

  3. Am I mistaken or are those bearings being assisted by some kind of wheel bearing in the floor?

  5. That's Lawrence Livermore Labs... and I remember that door because it was used in the movie TRON in 1982, and at that time it looked pretty cool...
