And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Does anyone have actual hands on experience with the jump start function of these things?
Never understood the air compressor part. If your tire's flat it most likely has something sticking in it (that's why it went flat) so airing it up won't help.
I've used different brands as a jump starter. Nothing bigger than V-6(6.4 liter), no monster diesels or bigger V-8s. They work great on the engines I've used them on. You get a few jump starts off a charge.
Where they're weak is as a long use or deep cycle battery. I got one for the power output rated 12V and the unit itself rated as 35AH. Not even close. I get like 4-1/2 Amp hours out of it.
I always jack up a flat tire to take the pressure off it and make it easier to fill or reseat the bead if needed. A lot of the time a penetration in the tire will seal itself to a high percentage which airing it up will at least get it to a tire shop for replacement or get you home. I carry a little $15 plug kit for tires that can be found at any auto parts store. They work but not always easy to get into a radial vs. a bias ply tire.
Remember as winter sets in soon every 10 degree drop in temp you loose about a pound of air pressure. May just need to top off 4 or 5 lbs for optimal performance and wear.
I have one now (not a compressor) and it works well, the size/weight is a vast improvement over the older large/heavy ones. I need another for the other car. FWIW I carry a can of Fix-a-flat too.
The compressor function is great for refilling tires that have gotten low and not having to go drive down to the gas station and put coins in the air pump there.
Plus I keep a can of Fix-A-Flat in the trunk, too. If the tire needs more air after sealing up a leak with the FAF, then the compressor has that covered.
Have had one about 5 years. Basically a laptop battery. As a jump starter I've used it on a gas V-10 and a tractor diesel, worked fantastic both times. The compressor accessory is very handy - I use it in the barn to air up tractor and trailer tires, where there is no power around. Usually 12 v air compressors are limited due to cigarette lighter cord length. This is a great alternative. Mine is Chinesium, so the plastic case hinge is busted and the battery case is warped, but....it still works, eh? Cost about $70 new and was 21,000 mAh if I recall correctly. Spec them on this number, it's the battery capacity in milli-amp hours. Mine also came with various laptop/cellphone charge connectors. It's a very handy little gadget and handy portable utility thingies come in very handy in spicy times, just sayin'
