Pratt & Whitney J-58 Engine for the SR-71 with 30,000 lbs. of thrust each (x2) and capable of Mach 3 + (over 2,000 miles per hour / 33 miles per minute / 3,000 feet per second)

  1. Watched one take off and land at Beale in 1974. Standing at the 4000 yard marker on the runway it literally knocked us on our butts. And with a climb angle of around 70' it just vanished into the sky. The only other noise I've heard even remotely that loud was a Bachman Turner Overdrive concert. Maybe why I have this raging case of tinnitus today.

  2. Those noises would do it for sure added to all the other noises you have come across.
Merry Christmass to all, out there.
