  1. Watched one take off and land at Beale in 1974. Standing at the 4000 yard marker on the runway it literally knocked us on our butts. And with a climb angle of around 70' it just vanished into the sky. The only other noise I've heard even remotely that loud was a Bachman Turner Overdrive concert. Maybe why I have this raging case of tinnitus today.
