Real?

  1. That's a Bell X-22 V/STOL. Two prototypes were made, the first crashed in 1966, and was stripped for parts to go on the second. The program was canceled because it could not reach the needed airspeed, but the second craft was flown until 1988.

The X-22 used a ducted fan design which was not used again until the F-35B.

  2. Four jet engines, four props, still only 250 mph. Where's the rocket propulsion package?

  3. What do test pilots do? Unfortunately, a lot of the time they demonstrated that the planes weren't stable or sturdy enough to fly.
