And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The servicemen in the foreground are wearing Air Force uniforms. AF ("chair force", etc.) members are routinely derided by other service members as "not really" military.
If I'm not mistaken, Chuck Yeager was a brigadier general in the Air Force. And while it may be true that he didn't enlist into the USAF, it was the branch of service in which he achieved many of his greatest accomplishments.
Signed Elmo, who drives down Chuck Yeager Road to get to his family ranch near Spenceville, California.
Having a son in uniform makes me feel proud to have raised a man... someone with honor, discipline, ambition, and a willingness to take on challenges even at the risk of his life.
I guess the military wouldn't take them
ReplyDeleteThat’s funny!

ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the Dads of those who serve.
Guessing that the photo of your son was taken about 40 miles from me in southern Illinois. Is he stationed at Scott AFB?
ReplyDeleteAir Mobility Command. It's been a really cool job for him.
DeleteOk, what's the story with that twisted metal beam overhead?
DeleteDunno. I'll have to ask him.
Deleteyes, it is Belleville, Ill and the twisted girder is from the twin towers, it is a memorial.
DeleteAgain, beautiful images. My Mom served in that time period. Good to see old style support for the old fashioned military.
ReplyDeleteWhen does he get a fancy hat?
ReplyDeleteFirst one. The look of shock is probably due to the fact that he hasn't been home for over 18 months.
