And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Those old trucks look great but were a pain in the heinie to drive compared to the new stuff. 3 shift levers, double clutching and nothin' but arm strength to help turn with. If you were in a tight area backing around corners it was work. I worked down in the Wy oilfields in the 70's and 80's and part of my job was safety checking-in leased equipment, the locals would bring in some dandy's like this but completely wore out, tranny barely hanging on, smoking, all the glass shot, leaking oil like crazy and then trying to snow me to let it pass. They didn't think my jokes about the truck being used to build the Panama Canal back in 1900 were funny.:) The main boss took bribes, the truck owner bought him 2 new Cadillacs, 2 fancy rifles a week and I got my ass chewed on a continual basis for failing most of the equipment this guy brought in. The job boss was the most crooked sob I ever worked with. He was the big dog at the plant we built at Skull Point.

ReplyDeleteThe truck is a keeper. Mountain Boy is right, but it's still a keeper.
