Brent B, the first Brent platform to be commissioned, was built in Stavanger, Norway and towed out to its location on the field in August 1975.

  2. 1975, two years after the oil pricing change in 1973.
    I went to an inflation calculator and put in 57 cents for 1975, with inflation that's $2.91 today.
    I paid $3.83 yesterday...

  3. Shell has some fascinating YouTube videos on the decommissioning and hauling away of the four Brent platforms. That was an engineering marvel. Especially since the Alpha platform was anchored to the sea floor so differently.
