And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
We should be all happy that there is a LOT of green. Otherwise the democrats would have worked hard to 'help' them, making a suppressed bunch of victims out of them. That said, the Irish would not have been dumb enough to accept that kind of 'help'.
Irish Catholic Americans tend to be Democrat voters. That's why NYC, Boston and Northern NJ almost always vote for the Democrat candidates. The Northern Ireland, "Ulster" Scot-Irish Prodestants are a different breed. They tend to side with Republicans. Of course there are individual exceptions.
Not much green in my area. Apparently, back in the day Olson Johnson said: "All right, we'll give some land to the n*ggers and the chinks, but we don't want the Irish."
