And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Cast Iron is Good (I've got sausages cooking in a Lodge product as I type this)
We have 7 Lodge skillets and 8 dutch ovens (not all Lodge brand). Half of them we don't use, they're pass me downs from mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers. Cooking with cast iron is an enigma to a lot of young people these days.
I use soap & hot water to clean my cast iron and dry it when I'm done. That's worked for me for over 40 years now but I use it every day and I have no problems with the seasoning.
Used to call that pan a cast iron "chicken fryer". I had one for over 30 years, ex-wife took it.

ReplyDeleteMade "all the leftover veg" pork fried rice in the lodge pan today. Noms!
ReplyDeleteAny one else use coarse salt to clean their cast iron instead of hot water and a brush?
