And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Lived about 5 miles from Rockford Speedway 1956-1972. Raced a few laps in a 1951 Ford. Hugh Deery always put on a good program. Raced a few laps in a 1951 Ford. The Wed. nite races featured the figure 8 which is shown here. Saw races of 3 cars hooked together where front car had steering and motor, no brakes, middle car was a shell with steering, third car had brakes & steering. Another race featured a sheet of plywood on top of car, driver had to hold it down w/one arm, steer-shift with other!
THAT IS DEFINITELY GOOD, I WOULD PAY LOTS OF MONEY.
ReplyDeleteI can see some guys sitting around drinking beer & thinking up something different!

ReplyDeleteSaw another race there, had raw eggs taped on side of cars, idea was to break opponents eggs. Good humpday evening fun! GE
