Cast Iron is Good (I've got sausages cooking in a Lodge product as I type this)

  1. Used to call that pan a cast iron "chicken fryer". I had one for over 30 years, ex-wife took it.

  2. We have 7 Lodge skillets and 8 dutch ovens (not all Lodge brand). Half of them we don't use, they're pass me downs from mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers. Cooking with cast iron is an enigma to a lot of young people these days.

  3. Made "all the leftover veg" pork fried rice in the lodge pan today. Noms!

  4. Any one else use coarse salt to clean their cast iron instead of hot water and a brush?

    1. I use soap & hot water to clean my cast iron and dry it when I'm done. That's worked for me for over 40 years now but I use it every day and I have no problems with the seasoning.
