  1. That looks like a really good wedge. I'm more inclined to use a maul and a sledge hammer these days. It's all personal choice.

  2. They are really good wedges. And Estwing makes a splitting maul that has a head much like that.

    With really weird or tight grain, or big honkin logs, having both that type of wedge, or two, and a sledge and a splitting maul, well, you can't do much better without going to an actual log splitting machine of some sorts.
