And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
DOD has long been dissatisfied with the physical limitations of helicopters. This is one potential solution to increase speed and range. USMC did this a while ago and selected the V-22 as their solution.
The fact is, everything DOD has will eventually need to be replaced. Every gun, tank, aircraft and ship. The choices are between older or newer technologies. Stuff wears out. Just like the old A-10 argument. Sure they are great, but they are wearing out. And they cost more to repair every year. Even if you asked industry to make new ones, the cost would still be astronomical, and you would still have to "improve" it with the latest stuff. Just like you can't buy a brand new model T. Ford won't make them. They have to have seat belts, crumple zones and anti-lock breaks and 8 different computers.
I was in Florida last winter, not too far from Sikorsky's test field. I went over to see if I could take a look, the guy at the gate laughed and told me no... I had more to do than just spend all day in case I could see it...
Sure there is. The government hasn't managed to take ALL of your money-YET. Once they have done that, they can always print more to assure that they can tax those who used that "savings loophole".
