Hope that rope is new and not frayed

  4. New or not that sudden stop at the end is going to hurt.

  5. Climbing ropes are quite elastic (10%-13% from 30 years ago, maybe more now). Still that much of a fall will mean you are brought up short pretty quickly if your protection holds.

  6. I rapelled and climbed out of Sotano Golondrinas in Mexico, 1086 feet in the late 80s. For that, we used PMI static rope. It had an elastic stretch of only about 3%. It was good for caving but no good at all for climbing.
