  1. Many, many moons ago, when I were but a young lad and serving in the navy. I had an opportunity to spend a few days aboard a frigate. Now, frigates, by nature, are pretty small and there's not a lot of spare bunk room to go around. So, when I asked where I was going to sleep, one guy piped up and told me "you can use my bunk (top bunk in a 3 bunk tier) I'm tired of getting thrown out in the middle of the night when we hit rough seas so now I just sleep on the deck."

  2. Based on the appearance and hull numbers, these are HMAS Brisbane (D 41) and HMAS Hobart (D 39), Charles F Adams DDGs built for the RAN in the 1960s.

  3. I was on a CG cutter in the Caribbean somewhere for my first breakfast at sea, the ship was rolling when I ordered my eggs over easy. The cook cracked them with one hand, the other hand help a spatula with the long side down on the grill to hold the eggs in place until they firmed up on the grill.
    I remember thinking "that's different".
