Nice

  1. Would be nicer if we had any naval aircraft that equals or exceeds all of it's parameters before the Navy retired all of them.

Yes, Big Navy, there is a need for an all-weather long range, twin-engine attack craft designed with room to add and modify and carry a butt-load of internal and external stores.

At the least, a navalized version of the A-10...

But then again, Big Navy also killed off the might War-Hoover and it's COD version in favor of the stupid Osprey.

Our 'know betters' are killing our war fighting ability.

    1. It would be nice to have had the Tomcat 21, too.

    2. That should have been 'mighty War-Hoover' and, yes, the S-3 Viking was just too good of a plane. Did everything it was designed for and twice as much besides.

I really have to read my comments before publishing... Nahhh...

  2. Is that fuel misting out of the nozzle?

    1. Yes. Just a small mist. There's a valve in the drogue that quickly seals if not pushed in by the probe. Of course, when you're passing gas at the speed they do, a little spill goes a long way.

You'll see the same thing in the right light with the Air Force's aerial refuelers.

  3. I think it's either a loose connection, or, more probably, they are just disconnecting, and that is the fuel at the end of the hose.

  4. Alas, a sight never to be seen again, thanks to the money-pit A-12 Avenger II sucking up all the funds that had been allocated for re-winging the A-6.
