And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I remember a 6:00 PM landing at Elmendorf AFB a week before Christmas '81 when it was -40° or below and the sky was so clear you could see everything. Of course, if you didn't blink for a few seconds, lights developed rays as (I think) the layer of fluid on the surface of the eye started to freeze. That was common when I was a little kid there, but not so much these years. I think it will be common again soon in the natural cycle of things. Not that my in-laws or such can be swayed by facts. I'm lucky that my wife is apparently an alien pod-child or an elven changeling. ;^)
