And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I have a good friend who flew the F-104 Zipper and he loves that aircraft. Really, it's a big engine with stubby little wings and a cockpit that drinks fuel. But I can't tell him that. He retired as a colonel and still misses it terribly even though he's older now. The other day, I told him that it sucks when you stop flying an airplane and start flying a desk. He looked at me and said, "Truer words were never spoken."
He had a Distinguished Flying Cross, from Vietnam, was shot down twice there flying A-1 Sandys. He said that he never loved the Spad the way that he loved the Zipper.
450 Kts by the end of the runway and 90 seconds to 35 thousand ft. What's not to like. The throttle was directly connected to the airspeed indicator.I loved that bird.
