And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
They need good suspension. One of the problems with the German (Nazi) PZKW MKV (Panther) was its complex suspension system. They had a difficult time keeping it maintained and working as designed. Being a German tank, it was over designed. The Russian T-34 wasn't nearly as good of a tank, but it worked in the bitter Russian winter and the Russians built them beyond the Urals (beyond bombing range). When they met the Panther, they did it as 5 to one odds and while the Panther would nail two or three, they'd eventually kill the Panther.
It wasn't all that different with the American Shermans ("Tommy cookers" if they had British crews). Great sacrifice from the Greatest Generation.
Tanks will bounce. The M-60 series used a torsion bar suspension and was fairly stout, but doing what tank in the gif did, you could break a torsion bar. Torsion bars were fairly easy to replace, and could be done in the field.
Yeah, I Suspect a few Broken Torsion Bars here... That Russian T-34 had a German-Designed Diesel Engine originally used in Aircraft. 500-Horsepower, Supercharger and Aluminum Block and Heads. Outside looks like Junk, Inside parts to German Specs. Track and Suspension were License-Built to a Patent by Walter Christie, an American. Those Oversize Roadwheels and Wide Track was Perfect for Russian Terrain, Mud and Snow. Production Numbers Won the War.
