And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I was stationed at NAS Key West back in '66-'68. My office was in the Operations Building and all the windows faced the primary runway. It was always a rush whenever a Phantom would roll up to the runway and warm up. It'd sit there for a bit and then the pilot would run up the engines and then hit the afterburners. Wow, what a sight. Those big blue flames seeming to extend about 50 feet and then the plane would be gone. I'd always wanted a picture of that but cameras were not allowed in my space. Good times. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
