And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Many years ago I used to stop at a small bar on the way home from my duck hunting slough and the bartender would open one beer and pour it into a bowl and open another for me. Kurli (Pellakana Birdie's Kurli) was the best retriever I ever owned and never left a bird in the field. She always looked forward to her post hunt libation and she licked the bowl clean, she also took all my secrets to her grave, damn, miss that dog.
