And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I have a 40 year old 5 quart that I received as a wedding gift and we added a 8 quart about 25 years ago. Now that it is just the two of us we rarely use the 8 quart.
With all respect, the women in our (very large, with many relatives) family have moved on to various brands of, "Insta Pot" cookers, and will tell you that they will never go back to classic crock pots.
When they start making Insta Pots a whole *lot* more user friendly (countless lights, buttons, and settings, etc.), . . . then I will buy one.
Soak some dry black beans overnight in water with seasonings as you like them (don't forget there's plenty of salt in the ham) throw it all in the crock with the hock & whatever ham scraps you have. usually done in about 6 hours. Bag & freeze. Good stuff! CC

Have that very one with the white crock. Can't live without it. We make our dog food in it mostly- real food for real dogs. Once a week.
