  1. My grandfather had a Bierstadt hanging in his den, now hanging in the Whitney Gallery of Western Art. I've always had a soft spot for his art since then.

    1. His paintings displayed an amazing touch with his use of light. This particular painting not so much.

      I just checked out the Whitney Gallery of Western Art. There's yet another reason to visit Cody, Wyoming.

  2. His "Among the Sierra Nevada" is breathtaking - it's huge - approximately 6' x 10' - and you feel like you could walk right into it and be in the mountains.
