Strait of Gibraltar. Embiggen for more detail. Interesting where the rivers run into the sea.

  2. There is a photograph in some journal of the Detroit River as it approaches Lake Erie. The suspended silts and clays reveal that there are actually 7 (?) parallel streaming flowing in the channel.

There is another of the Connecticut River on the cover of the Journal Water Pollution Control Federation showing a sewage discharge and two merging tributaries also flowing in parallel, unmixed.

I used to show them in my hydraulic classes when we discussed mixing. But that was 20 years ago, and I lost the references.

  3. I have been lucky enough to have gone to The Rock twice now. It was for me one the nicest places that I have been to while in Europe. If you get a chance to go then do so!
