  2. Baylisascaris is a disease that humans can get when the larvae from a common type of roundworm from the gut of a raccoon infects humans and causes neurologic symptoms. Raccoons crap on everything and everywhere. Keeping them out of your garages and sheds is imperative especially to protect children.

      Ma Nature is a brass-balled [redacted] and not your friend. Dinner, yes. But even then, well-done is better.

      That said, a kit-raised raccoon fed on deworming and flea-prevention meds is as safe as your cat or dog.

      Never leave a wild animal (even kit-raised) alone with a child.
