  1. Actually, she is holding her fencing stave, (shinai) incorrectly. For striking it should be at a much different angle, closer to being directly overhead for speed and efficiency.

  2. And, really, unless you're fighting people behind you, your blade should always be between you and your opponent.

    Sure, blade behind shoulder looks cool, but by the time you bring the blade forward of your shoulders your guts will be spilling out on the floor.

    3. Kendo and kenjutsu are worlds apart. Kendo is a sport with only three targets, kenjutsu attacks anywhere that's exposed.
