  2. The pilot in that iconic photo, Snort Snodgrass, regretfully passed away a couple of days ago. He was killed in an aircraft accident.

    1. In the turboprop powered equivalent of a Cessna O-1 BirdDog. That's kind of like an African professional hunter being killed by a lion cub. About that photo - the distance compression effect of a very long lens is in play here. He wasn't nearly as close aboard as it seems. Still, a great pic and a great man and pilot. RIP.

  5. This is a different aircraft than the one we usually see posted;; might be a photo shop or a different event. And this posting is in no way taking anything away from Snort.
