Union soldier Charles Merrill was saved from a musket ball by his Bible at the Battle of Chancellorsville. When he wrote to Lincoln about the incident, the President sent him a new Bible with his signature inside.

  1. I was walking down the street one day in Cincinnati and I looked down to find a bullet. After looking it over I dropped it in my breast pocket and continued on my way.

In the next block somebody tossed a Gideon Bible out of a 7th-story hotel window and it hit me smack in the chest and bounced off. If it hadn't have been for that bullet, that Bible might've killed me.
